Open Library Supervisor 40196 CELE

County Hall, Norwich

£15,170 - £16,749 per annum (Scale F) effective from 1 April 2019.

26 hours per week

Permanent contract

Norfolk Library and Information Service currently has the Open Library system installed in 35 of its libraries and plans to have this rolled out to over 40 sites by the end of 2019. The ambition is to have the Open Library system installed in all the Counties Libraries in the next few years.

Libraries are safe and welcoming public spaces used by people of all ages, backgrounds, experience and abilities. Libraries and library workers make a real difference. We are looking for a part time Open Library Supervisor to join the team to ensure that when libraries are operating in “Open Library” customers have a safe and enjoyable visit. The role also supports colleagues in the wider service with technical and other issues outside 9-5 Monday to Friday.

If you like a varied and challenging role where no two days are the same, then Open Library Supervisors have a real opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives in the County of Norfolk. If you are confident working with a wide range of people, normally over the phone; you can follow procedures and feel confident in your ability to work with customers and colleagues in sometimes difficult situations, and have the confidence and ability to work on your own without direct line management; and if you have a good knowledge of IT systems and would like to learn more about the library service, you could be the person we are looking for.

Open Libraries allow the people of Norfolk to use the library service outside staffed opening times. The post will involve 4 days covering part of the weekly schedule, 7.45am to 14.00pm Thursdays and Fridays, 7.45am to 16.30pm Saturdays, 9.15am to 16.30pm Sundays, with 30 minutes for lunch on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and an hour for lunch on Saturday.

As you may need to visit remote library sites at short notice a full car driving licenses or access to own motor transport is essential for this role.

Interviews for this post will be held on Wednesday 6 March

We welcome applications from individuals currently working in other organisations, however we would like to make you aware that priority consideration for this post may be given to current employees who are affected by restructure within the organisation or are in a redeployment position.

Workplace feedback states County Hall is a modern, business-like, bright and smart environment to work in.
