Social Workers (Level 1) NQSW/NIPE C149 CHSE

Countywide

£29,636 – £31,371 per annum (Scale I)

37 hours per week

Permanent contract (pending successful completion of ASYE)

Norfolk Children’s Services are recruiting Newly Qualified Social Workers into our highly successful Norfolk Institute for Practice Excellence (NIPE) academy for their Assisted Year in Employment (ASYE).  We have been recognised by OFSTED as providing an ASYE that is an example of national best practice and we are committed to continuing to improve and to develop further in enabling our newly qualified social workers to build a foundation of excellence as they begin their professional social work career. We want those who come through our NIPE to remain with us and to continue to contribute to the service that we provide to our children in Norfolk. We are currently working on extending our programme of support to include not just the ASYE but also the year that follows as we believe this will give you the best possible opportunity to develop the skills you need to be the best social worker you can be.

If successful you will be placed from the beginning of your ASYE journey in a fieldwork team in one of our six localities. Each locality will have a dedicated Practice Consultant whose role will be to act as your Assessor and to support you throughout the year.

You will receive a training calendar and will be given the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of the Norfolk Social Care Academy and our partnership with the UEA in increasing your knowledge and skills. You will also benefit from protected development time throughout the whole of your programme of support.

In addition to being a member of the NIPE you will also be an active member of the fieldwork team that you are placed in. You will have a protected caseload and will receive regular supportive and reflective supervision on both an individual and group supervision basis.

We are proud of our social workers and we are proud of our commitment to supporting newly qualified social workers through their first year. We have a proven track record of investment in newly qualified workers and are determined to help you to become the best social worker that you can be. We will expect a lot from you but in return you can also expect a lot from us.

If you want to work hard and to provide children and families with a first class service, and if you want your ASYE to be stimulating and challenging and want to feel that you are taking the first steps of your professional social work career in an environment that values you and the contribution that you can make, and if you want to be well supported as a newly qualified social worker, then Norfolk’s innovative Institute for Practice Excellence may be just what you are looking for.

For an informal discussion regarding our ASYE programme please contact Peter Hurst, NIPE Team Manager on 01553 614881.
